What it brought

Platform Events appear in beta: you define custom event messages and publish or subscribe to them inside Salesforce or from external systems. Lightning Data Service is a developer preview that lets components read and write records without Apex, and the Apex stub API is in pilot for writing mocking frameworks. Admins get Lightning component actions that run Apex and JavaScript, plus custom apps and better navigation in Lightning Experience. Platform Encryption adds bring-your-own-key. Service teams have one release left to move: Desktop CTI stops working in Spring '17, and Open CTI comes to Lightning Experience.
