What it brought

Visualforce became generally available in Summer '08 in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited and Developer Editions, though Group and Professional don't support custom controllers. The data model got richer as well: two master-detail relationships on a junction object model a many-to-many relationship, and cross-object formula fields can reach merge fields up to five related objects away. Access to a Visualforce page now comes from per-profile page level security instead of class level security. Apex managed sharing let developers share custom objects in code, with sharing reasons recording why. Single sign-on using SAML came to all Editions, public tags joined personal ones, and bounce management flags email addresses that fail.
