What it brought

Apex Code appeared in Spring '07 as a developer preview, in Developer Edition only, with triggers on insert, update and delete, an automated testing framework that reports code coverage, custom web service calls and a debug console. The hosted Customer Portal, a much richer replacement for the Self-Service portal, came as a limited release. The generally available work in the release's 105 notes is smaller: time-based workflow with time triggers relative to any date field, custom lookup relationships that now span standard objects, and case hierarchies linking related cases. Team Edition became Group Edition, Sales Anywhere was decommissioned and the Salesforce Classic theme was retired.
