What it brought
Much of Winter '13 was still gated: Force.com Canvas, connected applications and the Environment Hub were all pilots, and 19 notes were pilots in total. At 220 notes it is the largest release since Winter '07, and 86 of them are platform work aimed at developers. Admins could try a beta geolocation custom field that stores latitude and longitude for the DISTANCE and GEOLOCATION formula functions. In Case Feed, support agents got email drafts and approvals plus custom publishers. The desktop Flow Designer stopped supporting API versions past 25.0, and Salesforce removed the Google Talk sidebar after Google withdrew it.
