What it brought
The REST API became generally available in Spring '11 at version 21.0, a simpler way than SOAP to integrate with third-party cloud services, while the Bulk API stayed the route for large data loads. Change sets also reached general availability, so configuration could move from sandbox to production through the web interface instead of the Force.com IDE or Migration Tool. Platform work accounts for 31 of the 59 notes. Apex governor limits were consolidated into a single context, with the same resources whether code runs from a trigger, a test or anonymous Apex. Field sets shipped as beta, and Chatter came to mobile devices.
