What it brought
Batch Apex shipped in Summer '09 as a limited release, adding asynchronous processing over millions of records natively on Force.com. Mobile work made up nearly a third of the release, including custom list views and schema-driven related lists on iPhone, and a new Visualforce mobile JavaScript library let Visualforce Mobile pages force the BlackBerry and iPhone clients to sync local data on save. Admins got a managed analytics package for tracking page views and bandwidth on Force.com Sites. Approval processes could be inspected in the Process Visualizer, a Flash-based beta that Salesforce did not support during the beta period.
