What it brought

From Summer '11, orgs making large numbers of role, group or territory changes could defer sharing calculations and resume them during a maintenance window, instead of risking long recalculations or timeouts. Admins also got the enhanced profile user interface, whose overview page is the entry point to every setting and permission on a profile. At 44 notes it is a smaller release, weighted toward security and administration. Jigsaw became generally available for pulling crowd-sourced accounts and contacts into Salesforce. For developers, the Chatter REST API appeared as a Developer Preview and Apex REST as a pilot, and the Chatter mobile app left beta on Android.
