Every Release Note

A tour · 4 stops · 2 min

Ways of seeing

Read the history by release or capability, then place it beside the business and wider technology changes.

This is the tour’s text. In 3D each stop frames the notes it talks about; every stop below links to its view.

Winter ’04 – Winter ’27

One dot, one documented change

The first column contains 74 notes; the latest has 1,277. Salesforce’s later documents cover more products and divide their changes more finely. The columns make that expansion visible, but their height cannot separate software growth from changes in the documentation.

Early notes were segmented from guide-style chapters by a model. Winter ’27 is a preview in this archive.

Grouped by capability

A history inside every sphere

Security & Identity has the largest sphere across the whole archive, even though AI leads the recent releases. The rings distinguish that accumulated volume from recent growth: older notes sit towards the centre, while AI’s later start leaves its core empty.

Revenue beside the notes

Salesforce’s reported revenue grows 55 times; documented changes per year grow about 9 times over roughly the same span. Revenue reflects the whole business. The note count also depends on which products Salesforce includes and how it divides their changes.

Separate scales. Revenue fills the area; the dashed line is R&D, and the bars show acquisition cash spending.

The world in the notes

Nine events outside Salesforce and the 2,351 notes that name what they brought, 7% of the archive. 963 name Android; 31 name the GDPR, six of them in releases dated before 25 May 2018. Point at an event to light its notes.

Tick: the event. Dots: notes per release that name what it brought.

Editors chose the events. A note that names something is not a response to it.
