The companies in the notes

The phones, software and services Salesforce connects to, including its competitors.

This is the tour’s text. In 3D each stop frames the notes it talks about; every stop below links to its view.

A tour · The companies in the notes

Who else is in your Salesforce setup?

13% of the archive names at least one of the outside companies followed here. The names appear in Outlook integrations and phone requirements, later in data connectors and model support. Some entries announce a new connection; others withdraw one.

We match company and selected product names in titles and text. A mention alone does not establish a partnership.

Every company at once

More company names enter the notes

Microsoft appears at the archive’s opening. AI model makers enter the notes about 20 years later. Phone makers, social networks and data platforms fill the interval, often alongside the older names. Those mentions include support requirements and retirement notices.

Larger dots mean more notes name the company in that release. Android and Gemini have separate rows.

Microsoft · Winter ’21

Records inside Microsoft Teams

Outlook accounts for 37% of the notes naming Microsoft or its products. The Teams pilot added another place to work: users could preview records in a chat, pin them to channel tabs and edit fields inline. They could even post to a record’s Chatter feed from Teams.

A model split the guide-style chapters before Spring ’09 into notes. Their counts are not directly comparable with later releases.

Summer ’06 to Winter ’17

iOS appears in the fine print

Apple’s names appear in 1,345 notes, compared with 1,297 for Microsoft. Many occurrences identify iOS in a feature’s eligibility line. The earlier iPhone app note had a different qualification: the download was free, but use required Unlimited Edition or a mobile licence on an eligible edition.

Many mobile notes name iOS and Android only in the line that says where a change applies.

Social · Spring ’26 to the Winter ’27 preview

WhatsApp fills Meta’s recent mentions

89% of Meta’s mentions in these releases name WhatsApp. The work includes message templates and replies within a conversation. Salesforce retired Account Engagement’s Twitter connector after Twitter changed its API terms, explicitly naming those terms as the reason.

Amazon, Snowflake and Databricks

Much of Amazon’s presence is telephony

Amazon Connect accounts for 51% of the notes naming Amazon or AWS, through Service Cloud Voice’s telephony work. Snowflake’s newer connector handles a different connection: a data share can appear as a mounted Snowflake database without duplication. Its note also requires migration from legacy data-share targets.

Claude Code fills the Anthropic mentions

The preview names Anthropic or Claude in 42 notes, against 4 for OpenAI. 34 of those name Claude Code. The separate Salesforce-in-Claude beta is read-only: it can surface live account data, but cannot change records.

Mentions do not tell us which models customers use or prefer.

Competitors in the same setup

Even competitors have connectors

23 of the 31 notes naming these competitors sit in connector or integration sections. HubSpot appears as a data-sync source; Zendesk appears in connectors, including support for custom fields.

This tour excludes companies Salesforce owns, including Slack, Tableau and MuleSoft.
